Stiff Gins (Nardi Simpson and Kaleena Briggs) will be one of the highlights of 'Imagining the Capital: Canberra on Film' on 10 March 2013. They will perform 'Yandool', from their album 'Wind and Water', to accompany an excerpt from the NFSA's digital restoration of 'Naming the Federal Capital of Australia, March 12th 1913' (which can be viewed here:
In this interview they speak about the meaning of 'Yandool' and why it was chosen to illustrate a 1913 film where Indigenous Australians are notoriously absent. They also talk about their connection with Canberra, and the importance of singing in language.

'Imagining the Capital' celebrates 100 years of lifestyle, politics, and architecture in Canberra through film and sound from the national audiovisual collection, as part of Centenary of Canberra celebrations. A host of special guests will perform live music.
