Corner Kicks

Before we begin this tutorial here, realize that you can only greatly expand upon these ideas by creating your own custom corner set piece.

Now we're going to take a look at two examples here. Both of these scenarios depend on your ability of reading the players in the box. More importantly, reading your players in the box. We aren't just going to blindly send in a cross.

In our first example here, we're going to send in the ball directly on the head of our player. That's what we aim to do, anyway, and this depends on where our players are lined up. If you notice them lined up in front of the keeper, we're going to send in a straight cross.

We aim this cross by using the ball, or better yet, using the midfield line on the map at the bottom of the screen. Because this line is straight, we're just going to follow this line up the screen to find where the ball will be placed.

We're going to put top spin on the ball, so we're going to hold up on the left stick while powering up the bar for 2 bars of power. This ideally will bring the ball directly down onto our players head, and we don't need a ton of power when we head the ball in the net simply because our players are stationary, but the ball is accurate.

Now the second example is when your players are lined up closer to roughly 18 yards out from the keeper. We don't want to send the ball in the same way as we just learned simply because the ball isn't going to be struck powerful enough to cover this distance to goal.

Instead, we're going to try to curve the ball in and make our players run in to make a play. This type of header usually will be a lot more powerful, so don't worry too much about your aim for your header.

For this example we're going to aim with our corner taker's head. The ball will end up roughly in this area, so put his head out in front of the goal. We're going to put more pace on this ball when we send it in, and our player running to head it will really put some speed on this one.

When powering up, hold up and left on the left stick and power up for 4 full bars. This will swing the ball out much further than a lesser struck ball, and the keeper has no chance of coming out and making a play on this ball.

Most importantly, this will create your players that were playing away from the goal to make a run at the keeper. Swinging the ball in, in my opinion, is much more effective but can only be used if your players are playing far from the net.
