Crossing the Ball

Remember that Ribery and Robben have opposite strong feet. We put their strong foot on the inside which means Ribery and his right foot is playing left wing and the opposite for Robben. This is in the event we want to curve a shot around the keeper.

What this means for crossing is that we have to be facing the center of the pitch. We cannot be running in a straight line from left to right otherwise we'll cross with our weak foot. But we can use this to our advantage here.

Crossing the ball you hold X. More information on that in the skill games. Dribble in, square up, and cross it in. Gomez is more than capable of heading it in.

Or, we can dribble up the baseline. If we just cross it in from the corner, we allow the defenders to adjust as the ball is in the air, and we also telegraph to our opponent what we're doing.

I mean, we have to square up to cross it in anyway, right? So why not bring it down, closer in, for a more accurate cross? Besides, if we have the space we can curve in a shot from this angle as well.

Anyway, back to the cross here. There's a high cross and a low cross. Because we're counter attacking here, and we have fast wingers, and we have a striker with a high attacking position, we can send in a low cross as often as we do a high cross through the air.

This is done by triple tapping the cross button, which is X on the Xbox and square on PS3. Tap it three times to keep the ball on the ground. Gomez has 87 volleys, 88 shot power and 89 finishing. If he gets the ball to him, it's going to the back of the net.

Now the opposite here is to head the ball in. Gomez has 91 attack position, he's 6'2, has 89 strength, and 86 heading accuracy. If he gets the ball to him, like I said, it's going in.

To cross the ball in through the air hold X. On the ground, triple tap X. If your build up attack was slowed down, cross the ball through the air.

If you're out running the defense, you should cross it in on the ground. Either way, crossing the ball goes hand in hand with our formation, our players, our attributes, our starting 11, and team selection. It's everything we have built up to now, so if you aren't crossing the ball in -- you should do so more often.
