What you will learn:

• Which offensive attributes matter

We're going to break this down into two categories here as we did with the defensive attributes that matter tutorial you just saw. This time we're going to break it down into midfielders and forwards.

I'm going to lump all midfielders together here, as their attributes are all pretty much the same despite some being CDMs or regular center midfielders.

The game this year is much slower than normal. Speed is relatively useless in the midfield, so you need a midfielder that can win the ball, pass the ball, and won't get tired. For this reason, stamina, ball control, and passing are the most important attributes here. It doesn't make a ton of sense putting someone like Theo Walcott at midfield, because he won't have the room to use his speed.

Center mids need to take the ball away and pass it up field in order to build it up, and if that happens in your opponent's territory, they need the skills to effectively pass the ball.

For wingers, the room is there to use the speed. We spoke about what we didn't want to happen with our fullbacks, and this is something we do want to happen with our wingers. We want to get behind our opponent's fullbacks and dribble in from the side or look to cross the ball. When deciding which wingers to start, look for sprint speed, acceleration, and crossing.

For center forwards, CAMs, and strikers, we're looking for finishing, ball control, attacking position, shot power and long shots.

Now I want to speak about what these mean briefly. Finishing is the accuracy of shots inside of the box. Messi is the best in the business with a rating of 95. If you have a striker that has close to 90 or above, he should be starting for you.
Ball control goes hand in hand with agility and balance, and that means when you get the ball on your foot it isn't going to be a sloppy touch.

Now getting into actual space is what attacking position is all about. We'll get into this a bit in the future, but if you're playing an opponent that is using the double team press on you, a player with high attack position will fill where that second defender should be. Get him the ball to get off a shot on goal, which are hard to come by this year.

Expanding on that just a touch, attacking position means more than previous years. The attacking AI this year is higher than ever, meaning you had better be darn sure about double teaming an opponent. If you make a mistake, a computer attacker will be in open space to get a clean shot on goal.

Long shots are the opposite of finishing. They're the accuracy outside of the box. Shot power goes hand in hand with this, so players like Lampard and Gerrard can bury the ball in the net from range.
