The Gamer Training Institute is a comprehensive learning tool for gamers on VirginGaming.com. These lessons are meant to be viewed in numerical order, so be sure to watch the videos starting with episode 1, and making your way to lesson 37.

In this tutorial I want to talk about how fast to build up your attack.

Now there are a couple of other ways to do this, but I want to share with you my personal preference. This is how I play, and this can be used as a tool to either duplicate yourself, or it can be an inspiration to get you to consider your own attack speed.

There is a quick tactic section here in the FIFA 13 GTI, that is neither before or after this tutorial or other tutorials, but rather to be used in conjuction with a tutorial like this one. Be sure to check that out if this tutorial isn't 100% clear to you.

Anyway, with that said, my personal build up play is very fast. I prefer to put maximum pressure on my opponent when attacking. For this I use the quick tactic titled counter attack.

My goal on the defensive side of the ball is to lull my opponent's into a complacent, pass happy offense. I want their midfielders to sneak down into my territory nice and deep. When I see them, I'm going to instantly snap on the ball. I'm going to hunt it down and chase it and get it back before sending it up field.

The idea here is to get my forwards already behind their midfielders. From that point I like my chances on a big play opportunity here, as my strikers are easily faster than their centerbacks and fullbacks.

Like a snake in the grass, I'll wait patiently. I'll wait and wait and wait without ever over committing to the ball, or giving away an easy shot on goal. At just the right moment I'll attack the ball, win it back, send it up field and produce a foot race to my opponent's keeper.

Not every time am I going to turn this counter attack into a breakaway on his keeper, but I will keep maximum pressure on his defense this way.

Now while sending the ball up the field here, I'm not going to take a ton of time dribbling it up with one player. I'm going to go with the short passes we just spoke about, and I'm going to keep the ball moving- Preferably through the center.

I'm going to use a combination of short passes, and the LB/L1 button passing. Hold down LB or L1, pass the ball and your player will head up field creating a give and go scenario.

If one snakes through the defense, I'll use a lob through ball. If not, I'll keep the one-two passing up until I can get a shot on goal.

Now listen to me here, I'm not going to fall into my own trap. I don't want to spend a ton of time passing and looking for openings around my opponent's penalty area. I don't want my midfielders creeping up and allowing my opponent to counter attack me right back.

Now with all of this said, now you know how fast to build it up. You know that we're trying to get behind his midfielders when they're in our territory. You know we're looking to counter attack after bringing in our opponent's attackers too deep.

Once we get the ball back and send it up field, let's take a look at a couple of ways to attack in more detail. My favorite is through the center, so we'll take a look at that first.. but then we'll also look at how to attack up the wings.
