HUGE DOWNPOURS and CRASHES as Melbourne Grand Prix Qualifying is postponed

After huge downpours in Melbourne it was absolute carnage out on the track at Albert Park. The safety car had to check whether the track was safe and after brushing the puddles off into the edge Q1 finally got underway 10 minutes late. Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes clipped his rear wing first, then Felipe Massa and his Ferrari collided with the wall twice, Caterham's Giedo van der Garde and Charles Pic struggled with the conditions, Pic taking out his front wing. Mark Webber took his Red Bull for a wander on the grass and finally Esteban Gutierrez in the Sauber spun at the same point as Massa. Q1 finished under a yellow flag. Nico Rosberg set the fastest time but was unable to go on and make his mark in Q2 and Q3 as rain postponed qualifying until Saturday 17th March 2013. Q2 and Q3 will now take place at 11am before the race starts in the afternoon.
